The Ultimate Sergei Fedorov Rookie Card Guide (2022)

Sergei Federov was one of the most electric players of his generation, and his rookie cards make for a solid long-term investment.

In the 1990s, the only thing flying higher than Sergei Fedorov was an airplane and maybe Pavel Bure, but that’s another article.

Fedorov was one of the greatest skaters and goal scorers that NHL has ever seen. In 1993 he put the biscuit in the net 56 times and had 64 assists for a total of 120 points.

Sergei Fedorov Rookie Year Stats: 77 games | 31 goals | 48 assists| 66 penalty minutes

1990 Upper Deck Young Guns RC #525

Sergei Fedorov upper deck young guns rookie

The Young Guns brand is the cream of the crop regarding rookie cards in the hockey card hobby.

Produced by Upper Deck, the 1990 Fedorov Young Guns RC is numbered #525 and captures Sergei battling for the puck in the classic all-red Detroit Red Wings knit.

His name is in the upper left-hand corner, positioned in the top right, and the “Young Guns” logo is in the bottom right. Please note the card is also available in a “French” version which is the same card but in French.

1990 O-Pee-Chee Premier RC #30

1990 O-Pee-Chee Premier Rookie

Regarding ROI, the Fedorov OPC Premier and the Young Guns rookie cards are neck and neck.

The O-Pee-Chee Premier hockey card brand had a short run. The first couple of sets were fire (1991 and 1992) but then sets after that appear to have been produced by 8th graders, and no, we’re not joking.

Regardless the 1990 set is one of the top hockey sets of all time, and the Fedorov rookie card is a true gem.

1990 Score Traded RC #20T

Sergei Fedorov score traded rookie

Underrated and undervalued are two words that come to mind when buying the Sergei Fedorov Score Traded rookie card.

Published in 1990, numbered 20T, and recently purchased on eBay for $20 at a PSA 10 grade.  Were not saying you wil get rich buying up these cards but the ROI should be fairly juicy over the next 5 to 20 years.

Best Patrick Roy Rookie Cards, Values, & Checklist

Patrick Roy rookie cards are one of the top investments in the hockey card hobby as he was one of the best goalies in the history of the NHL. He went on to have a short but memorable coaching career in retirement.

He played on the Montreal Canadiens and the Colorado Avalanche, two franchises that would both end up retiring his number. He’s widely regarded as one of the three best goalies to ever suit up in the NHL and has developed a reputation as someone that isn’t afraid to speak his mind.

He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in just his first year of eligibility.

Roy continued signing cards well into retirement so there are plenty of modern cards that picture the goalie. However, there are only two genuine rookie cards from Roy’s 1986 season with the Montreal Canadiens.

We’ve outlined everything there is to know about Roy rookie cards, from the different options to an investment outlook.

Best Cards

Here are the two Patrick Roy rookie cards, as well as another option for those that want something different.

1986 Patrick Roy O-Pee-Chee Patrick Roy RC #53

Patrick Roy Rookie Card Value

The most iconic of all the Roy rookie cards, this 1986 O-Pee-Chee card is renowned across the hockey industry as very important. The aura around the card is mostly due to the career of the goalie pictured but it also features a classic design.

The three colors of the Canadiens — red, white, and blue — are all used nicely on the card. There’s a creative border around the picture of Roy and the Canadiens logo is placed in the bottom right corner.

1986 Patrick Roy Topps Patrick Roy RC #53

The Topps version of the card has the exact same design as the O-Pee-Chee edition, it’s just the American counterpart. It’s not quite as sought after but still a good option for those that want a Roy rookie card.

For those that don’t want to shell out the upfront investment required for the O-Pee-Chee version, this one comes in second as the only other official Roy rookie card.

1986 Patrick Roy Kraft Drawings Patrick Roy

While there are only two officially recognized Roy rookie cards, this is another option for those that just want to own a piece of hockey history.

This card came alongside Kraft products and features an image of Roy drawn on the front. The Kraft Sports logo is placed in the bottom left of the card.

As far as investments go, this card isn’t on the same level as the other two on the list. However, if you’re just looking for something interesting to add to your collection, you could do a lot worse.

Values

Patrick Roy Rookie Card Value

Out of all the cards mentioned above, it’s this O-Pee-Chee rookie card that has the highest value.

It’s recognized as the most sought-after Roy rookie card by all serious hockey card collectors and is a signature piece in any collection. As time moves forward, it will continue to be the most expensive Roy rookie card.

Investment Outlook

Patrick Roy is one of the best goalies in history and will always be remembered for his excellent play and outspoken manner. He wasn’t one to hold back when he had something on his mind and — most of the time — fans loved him for it.

It’s always a good idea to invest in legends that have proven to remain relevant long after they finished playing. As we move further and further away from the time these cards were created, the value of the cards mentioned above is only going to climb.

Most Valuable Roger Federer Tennis Cards

Most Valuable Roger Federer Rookie Cards

Although Roger Federer recently announced his decision to hang up his racquet, the value of his memorabilia, particularly his tennis trading cards, are more sought-after than ever before. Without further ado, let’s reveal the top 10 most valuable Roger Federer cards of all time.

2015 Leaf Ultimate Roger Federer Match-Worn Autographs Bronze #SARF1

Sold for $2,500 on September 2, 2022, on eBay.

Configured in one pack of five cards, 2015 Leaf Ultimate Tennis is a high-end product, allocating collectors with only hits in the form of five autographed cards.

2015 Leaf Ultimate was released on December 18, 2015, with only 195 cases to reach production. Leaf also announced that collectors could obtain either an Andy Murray or Roger Federer autograph in each case.

The most valuable Roger Federer card from 2015 Leaf Ultimate comes from the Match Worn Autographs subset, depicting a bright orange swatch of a game-worn shirt and his autograph on a sticker, both of which are guaranteed authentic by Leaf Trading Cards.

Roger Federer’s 2015 Leaf Ultimate Match-Worn Autographs Bronze card has a PSA population of one, which merited an illustrious PSA 10.

Bearing in mind that his 2015 Leaf Ultimate Match-Worn Autographs Bronze card features both a game-worn jersey and an autograph, in addition to the low print production of the set and the PSA population of one, leads to the innate value of Roger Federer’s highly sought-after card.

2013-14 Ace Authentic Grand Slam National Pride Autographs Roger Federer Green /1 #NP-RF1

Sold for $2,881 on July 16, 2022, by Goldin Auctions (Link)

2013-14 Ace Authentic Grand Slam is a high-end product featuring an autographed-only set, which marked the final release of the Ace product. 2013-14 Ace Authentic Grand Slam is a 135-card set honoring the most talented tennis players from around the world.

2013-14 Ace Authentic Grand Slam was issued in one pack of 10 cards, each featuring an on-card autograph. The set’s highlight is the 64-card National Pride Heritage subset, which portrays the world’s most talented tennis players and their cultural backgrounds, leading us to the 9th most valuable Roger Federer card of all time.

Roger Federer mastered the art of the one-handed backhand, which is represented beautifully on the Swiss legends 2013-14 Ace Authentic National Pride Autographs Green card, which is serial-numbered 1 of 1.

Federer’s 2013-14 Ace Authentic National Pride Autographs Green card endures the flag of Switzerland in the background, paying homage to the most talented Swiss tennis player and arguably the greatest of all time. The iconic one-of-one card harbors an Ace Certified holographic sticker, which features Roger Federer’s autograph in bold black ink.

The Swiss Maestro’s one-of-a-kind 2013-14 Ace Authentics Grand Slam National Pride Autographs Green card, graded a PSA 8 for condition, and PSA 9 for his autograph, is one of his most coveted cards, hence the four-figure price tag.

2020 Topps Transcendent Collection Tennis Hall of Fame Roger Federer /25 #TCA-RF

Sold for $2,999.95 on September 15, 2022, on eBay (Link)

The 2020 Topps Transcendent Collection Tennis Hall of Fame Edition is unparalleled in that each box allocates the entire 50-card base set and an additional 32 autographs. Topps only produced 50 hobby boxes of this iconic set to take things to an even higher level.

If you purchased the 2020 Topps Transcendent Collection Tennis Hall of Fame Edition box when it was first released on April 1, 2020, you’d also have received a VIP invitation to the International Tennis Hall of Fame, located in Newport, Rhode Island.

The most valuable Roger Federer card from the set arises from the Framed Transcendent Collection Autographs subset, bearing a 51-card checklist.

Like his 2013-14 Ace Authentic Grand Slam National Pride Autographs card, Topps depicts Federer with his signature one-handed backhand, repping a white Uniqlo headband, sweatband, and shirt.

What’s interesting about Roger Federer donning Uniqlo is that for over two decades, from 1994 to 2018, Federer was sponsored by Nike until a highly lucrative 10-year, $300 million contract he received from Uniqlo.

One of the most revealing aspects of Federer’s 2020 Topps Transcendent Collection Tennis Hall of Fame Edition is that the sale of this specific card is for raw copy, cementing the card’s prospective value.

When all is said and done, it is feasible that Roger Federer’s 2020 Topps Transcendent Collection Tennis Hall of Fame Edition card will jump into his top five most valuable cards ever issued in high grade.

2003 Stadion Roger Federer World Stars #620

Sold for $3,938 on March 31, 2021, on eBay (Link)

Similar to Sports Illustrated for Kids, Stadion is a Czech magazine published between 2000 and 2005 that allocates cards within each issue. The World Stars set released 735 cards in eight series over five years, hence the 2000-2005 inscription on the PSA label. Roger Federer’s 2003 Stadion World Stars card appears in the 7th series of the magazine.

The Stadion World Stars magazine produced cards as a multi-sport set featuring athletes from tennis and the English Premier League, and everything in between. The Stadion World Stars cards are also unique because each card is written in Czech.

Unlike his 2013-14 Ace Authentic Grand Slam National Pride Autographs and 2020 Topps Transcendent Collection Tennis Hall of Fame, Federer’s 2003 Stadion World Stars card features the Swiss legend hitting a forehand at the Wimbledon Championships at the revered All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Although Federer’s 2003 Stadion World Stars card isn’t serial-numbered, Stadion only produced 1,000 copies of the magazine. According to PSA, Federer’s 2003 Stadion World Stars card has a total population of 12, with the highest three cards meriting a PSA 9.

Weighing the low population and scarcity of 2003 Stadion World Stars magazine, and considering that each card is issued in Czech, Roger Federer’s 2003 Stadion World Stars card is undoubtedly his most unique card on the list, leading to the four-figure price tag.

2011 Ace Authentic EX Dual Signatures Roger Federer/Rafael Nadal #DS 1-5

Sold for $6,000 on September 16, 2022, by PWCC Marketplace.

2011 Ace Authentic EX Tennis was issued on May 2, 2011, as a premium tennis product limited to 125 cases, and each card is serial-numbered to 99 or less.

Roger Federer’s most coveted card from 2011 Ace Authentic EX is from the Dual Signatures checklist, limited to just 10 copies. Fittingly, Federer’s counterpart on his Dual Signatures card is none other than his longtime rival and close friend, Rafael Nadal.

The two tennis legends have faced off against one another on 40 occasions, with Nadal capturing the head-to-head series 24-16, including 14-10 in finals matches and 10-4 in Grand Slam finals.

Federer’s 2011 Ace Authentic EX Tennis has a PSA population of one, which warranted a PSA 8, and a BGS population of four, with three copies earning a BGS 9.5. Though the most valuable sale of Federer and Nadal’s 2011 Ace Authentic EX Tennis Dual Signatures card is graded by CSG, which carries a CSG 9, the grading companies only copy.

Federer’s Dual Signatures card from 2011 Ace Authentic EX may be his most memorable, as it bears both Federer and Rafael Nadal’s on-card autographs, who have established arguably the greatest rivalry in sports history.

2005 Ace Authentic Signature Series Roger Feder Signature Moments Autograph #SM-1

Sold for $6,600 on December 19, 2021, by Goldin Auctions.

2005 Ace Authentic Signature Series debuted on January 1, 2005, and was comprised of 30 packs of five cards in each box. 2005 Ace Authentic Signature Series hobby box features an action photo of Maria Sharapova, Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer on the cover.

2005 Ace Authentic Signature Series is known for the Court Kings, Court Queens, Grand Slam Champions, and Signature Moments insert cards.

The Signature Moments insert cards come in three varieties: Signature Moments, Signature Moments Autograph, and Signature Moments Jersey. With that said, Roger Federer’s most sought-after card from the 2005 Ace Authentic Signature Series emerges from the Signature Moments Autograph subset.

The Signature Moments subset highlights 10 of the most resounding tennis players in the sport’s history, with Roger Federer the first card in the checklist.

Roger Federer’s Signature Moments Autograph card is limited to only 50 copies and has a PSA population of four, with this specific card the only one to merit the highly coveted PSA 10.

The Swiss Maestro’s Signature Moments Autograph card features a long-haired Federer in a horizontal orientation with his on-card signature in black ink on a gold sticker on the right-hand side.

The reverse of Federer’s Signature Moments Autograph card delved into his first Grand Slam title when the 19-year-old Swiss man became the first tennis player from Switzerland to capture a Grand Slam. Federer went on to win an additional seven Wimbledon finals, more than any of the other Grand Slam tournaments, cementing the value of his 2005 Ace Authentic Signature Series Signature Moments Autograph card.

2003 NetPro Elite Stars Roger Federer Rookie Card #3

Sold for $9,500 on February 3, 2021, by PWCC Marketplace.

The most coveted tennis card brand is NetPro, the industry’s leading tennis trading card brand. NetPro first issued tennis cards in 1991, regarded as Prototype cards featuring Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras rookie cards. In light of that, the top four most valuable Roger Federer cards all arise from a 2003 NetPro product, all of which are considered his rookie cards.

Roger Federer’s 4th most valuable card is from the 2003 NetPro Elite Stars set as an International Series insert, though not to be confused with the 2003 NetPro International Series, which was released prior to the 2003 NetPro Elite Stars set. 2003 NetPro Elite Stars is a tribute to the top 20 tennis players of the era, each player with 500 cards produced.

“NetPro Elite Star” is inscribed on the left-hand side of Federer’s rookie card, with a black star underneath the inscription, with “International Series” etched in the bottom middle of the card.

According to PSA’s population report, 40 of Roger Federer’s cards have been graded, 13 of which received a PSA 10, including the sale of this specific card.

While NetPro may have chosen the top 20 international tennis players to represent this highly exclusive set, it’s quite possible that the collection features the most prominent tennis player of all time with Roger Federer.

2003 NetPro Elite Limited Edition Collectors Set Roger Federer Rookie Card /2000 #3

Sold for $9,544 on May 6, 2021, by PWCC Marketplace.

Roger Federer’s third most valuable rookie card arises from the 2003 NetPro Limited Edition Collector’s set, one of the market’s most expensive tennis hobby products. Federer’s card is often referred to as 2003 NetPro Elite 2000, as inscribed on the label of PSA-graded copies.

NetPro issued 2,000 serial-numbered boxes of the 2003 NetPro Elite Limited Edition Collectors Set, depicting the country flags of the most celebrated tennis players on each cover card. As a side note, the cover card from the 2003 NetPro Elite Limited Editions Collectors Set can fetch around $100 by itself.

Federer’s 2003 NetPro Elite Limited Editions Collectors Set card features the 20-time Grand Slam Champion in the act of serving while repping a red and white ensemble.

The reverse of Federer’s card cites his career prize money at the time, which was $7,738,008. At the time of Roger Federer’s recent retirement, he obtained a total of $130 million in prize money.

According to PSA’s Population Report, 203 of the 437 PSA-graded copies of Federer’s 2003 NetPro Elite Limited Edition Collectors Set card have earned a PSA 10. As for Beckett, there are 224 BGS-graded cards, 27 of which acquired a BGS 10.

Long story short, Roger Federer’s rookie card from this highly scarce set habitually conveys four figures.

2003 NetPro Elite Roger Federer Glossy Rookie Card /100 #G3

Sold for $9,960 on May 2, 2022, by Goldin Auctions (Link).

Piggybacking off Roger Federer’s previous card, his second most valuable rookie card arises from the same 2003 NetPro Elite Limited Edition Collectors Set, though with a catch.

2003 NetPro embedded a Glossy variation of each player of the 20-card checklist, limited to only 100 copies, leading us to the enormously valuable 2003 NetPro Elite Glossy Roger Federer rookie card. Federer’s 2003 Glossy variation is identical in design to his previous card yet carries a glossy finish.

It’s important to distinguish that this particular Roger Federer rookie card, numbered #G3, varies from his 2003 NetPro Glossy rookie card, numbered #G11, which portrays Federer striking a forehand at the French Open, also known as Roland-Garros.

Roger Federer’s 2003 NetPro Elite Glossy rookie card has a PSA population of 45, 20 of which received a PSA 10. In contrast, there are 28 BGS-graded copies, none of which received higher than a BGS 9.5.=

The Glossy variation cards from 2003 NetPro Elite are among the hobby’s most coveted tennis cards, including Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal’s rookie cards. At its core, this is the second most valuable Roger Federer rookie card on record, which hovers around five figures to fetch.

2003 NetPro International Court Authentic Apparel Roger Federer Autograph Bonus /25 #RF Bonus

Sold for $110,000 on February 11, 2022, by PWCC Marketplace.

The holy grail of tennis cards is Roger Federer’s 2003 NetPro International Court Authentic Apparel Autographed rookie card, serial-numbered to just 25 copies.

According to NetPro, there was a scheduling conflict with the release of the 10-card International Series Autograph set, leading to this exceptionally rare bonus card being inserted into the 2003 NetPro Elite Stars set.

Roger Federer’s 2003 NetPro International Court Authentic Apparel Autographed rookie card is nearly identical in structure to his 2003 NetPro Elite Stars rookie card, with the only significant difference being Federer’s Court-Authentic Apparel embedded on the left-hand side of the card.

Federer’s 2003 NetPro International Court Authentic Apparel Autograph rookie card is exceptionally scarce and has a PSA population of one and a BGS population of 10.

Roger Federer’s rookie card, which received a BGS 9.5 for overall condition, and a BGS 10 for Federer’s black penned autograph, recently fetched six figures through the PWCC Marketplace and is regarded as one of the most valuable tennis cards in the hobby.

Roger Federer’s Lasting Legacy

Roger Federer will be recognized as arguably the greatest tennis player of all time, though tennis fans will also remember him for his second-to-none sportsmanship, illustrated by his capturing the ATP Sportsmanship Award a record 13 times, as Federer is a true gentleman both on and off the court, who has significantly advanced the game of tennis.

Roger Federer is not only the most prolific tennis player of all time, but he’s also in the conversation for the most exceptional athlete ever. In short, Roger Federer’s cards’ value is second to none in the tennis trading card hobby.

In the image, you can see Luka looking up-court as he dribbles the ball up-court in his left hand.

There are two things of note on the left side of the card. Up top, you can see a game-worn jersey patch. Here the patch is mostly white with black on the right.

2016 Luka Doncic Upper Deck Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Rainbow

Here we have a unique card as Luka is not wearing his Mavericks uniform. Instead, this image is from when he played for Real Madrid in the Euro League.

His uniform is white, and it features several advertisements as is normal in European sports leagues. Additionally, you’ll notice Luka is wearing the number 7 instead of 77 as he does in the NBA.

Furthermore, you can see Luka making a pass with his right hand. Interestingly, the balls in Europe feature an equal amount of blue and black, making them different from American basketballs.

There are logos in three corners of the card. A Real Madrid logo is in the top left, the Upper Deck logo is in the top right, and the Turkish Airlines logo is in the bottom right. Finally, Luka’s name and position are in the bottom left.

In the image, Luka is wearing his blue uniform, and he is looking up-court. He is dribbling the ball in his left hand. An interesting quirk of the image is the checkered pattern overlaps with his legs. While this was likely unintentional, it is a cool distinction.

Below the image of Luka is a small blue border with his name and team written out. The right side of this border features the Optic logo. Finally, the Rated Rookie Logo is to the left of his head.

Long-Term Forecast

When looking at basketball rookie cards to purchase, it is best to get in on cards before they spike in value. Unfortunately, Luka Doncic rookie cards are not going to be available for cheap.

Luka has quickly established himself as a superstar and MVP candidate just three years into his young career. As a result, his cards have risen in value quickly with him.

However, that does not mean you should avoid his rookie cards. There are several factors that lead us to expect his cards to continue to rise in value.

Firstly, while Luka is already great, he is still very young and could get even better. Winning an MVP or championship would increase the value of his cards.

Additionally, since Luka is European there is a massive market for his cards outside the United States. So, if you can get your hands on his rookie cards, you can sell them to more people.

So, it will take more money to purchase Luka Doncic rookie cards right now than other options. However, there is potential for his cards to rise in value more than any other young player in the NBA.
